The Cambridge Folk Club is well respected, so I'm thrilled to accept their invitation to play a 20 minute spot. Special guests After The Flood (30 minutes) along with many regular performers. This is an ideal night to pop in and enjoy some of the Cambridge folk scene!
MARYEN CAIRNS "Here we have an artist pushing more traditional folk styles into a whole new ambient realm, an acoustic player who is as much about the spaces as the notes, but too a musician who relays her narratives like the troubadours of old." - Dave Franklin, Dancing About Architecture 2024
A Scottish born Australian now living in Guernsey, singer-songwriter Maryen Cairns pivots on a cajón between a guitar, piano & percussion, telling stories of smugglers, strong women and of hope for the future, with solo stripped back arrangements creating a primal and beautiful sonic backdrop. Maryen has been being mentored by Rolling Stone's producer Chris Kimsey; released 7 critically-acclaimed solo albums; had a professional association with former Marillion lead singer Fish; toured 18,000 km through remote Australian communities with her family band; released “One Woman Band, Live at Echotown Studios, Vol 1” in 2024 and on 25 April 2025 releases Vol 2.
